The Story of “Us”
“ I don’t know how to describe it but from the moment I saw her, I knew we had this unworldly connection.”
— Jason
“ I tried to fight the realization that I had found “the one”, because, well, he was everything I dreamed of.”
— Madison
Who believes in soulmates anyway…
Madison and Jason's journey began on the dating app, Hinge, where they first matched a year before their fateful meeting. From the very first conversation, they felt an incredible connection, despite only chatting via text. However, living an hour apart led them to disconnect, thinking it was just too far to pursue.
Fast forward a year, and by what they believe was a higher power at work, they rematched on Hinge—an impressive feat given the app's algorithm. This time, they were just 2 miles apart! Jason recalls, “I saw her picture pop up again and couldn’t believe it was her, the one I had been thinking about this entire last year.” Madi, in turn, fondly remembers the handsome guy with the great beard and muscles who wrote on his dating profile “enjoys deep talks and long walks through Home Goods”…talk about her dream guy!
Their conversations flowed effortlessly, marked by long texts that reflected their clear intent, genuine interest in who they both were to the core and in turn, their insane connection. They finally met in person on February 3, 2021, at Postino in the Heights. Jason arrived first, and as he approached the restaurant, Madi was pulling in. Spotting him in his white Henley and khaki pants took her breath away—so much so that she had to take a moment in her car to calm down because she was so nervous.
Their first date was filled with deep and honest conversations, covering topics that usually remain unspoken on first dates. It felt like they had known each other forever, leading to three more dates within just one week. From the start, both sensed that their meeting was written by fate, as their past experiences complemented each other in unexpected ways. With the honesty, depth of conversation, vulnerability and insane chemistry, there was absolutely no need for them to play any sort of games with each other. It was the real thing from the start. They both felt as though they had just met their exact counterpart, their perfect missing piece, their real soulmate.
Each of their lives has been shaped by incredibly different experiences, yet when they came together, it was as if those experiences had a purpose. The challenges and joys they faced individually prepared them to love deeply, think critically, and approach life with empathy, understanding and from a stance of learning how to be a better version of themselves. Their pasts, while vastly different, formed a collection of lessons that made them the perfect teammates for each other. Looking back, they recognize a powerful "everything happens for a reason" theme running through their lives. Even in the darkest times before they met, they didn’t realize how each experience was guiding them toward one another. It was as if God or the Universe, (or Uni as we call it) was painting a larger picture, the portrait of their lives together.
Since the beginning, they never felt the need to change anything about themselves. For the first time in their romantic lives, they had met someone who celebrated who their are, found their deepest thoughts fascinating and genuinely felt that being together made every single situation or experience better. They never felt they needed to sacrifice anything about their lives or who they are to make their relationship work; instead, they naturally balanced each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Both Jason and Madison strive to show up as their best selves for one another—not out of obligation, but out of a deep respect and love. Jason believes Madison deserves the world, and he aims to achieve that every day, while Madison remains staying true to being the best version of herself for Jason.
Their shared interests create an incredible life together thus far, from wine nights and picnics to a crazy amount of traveling, checking out new cocktail lounges, and enjoying college football (Go Vols!) and Astros baseball together. They cherish family time with Aiden and Noah, cuddles with their doggos Hooch and Banjo, indulge in treats from their favorite macaron shop, and love driving with the tops off their Jeeps, embracing the fun of being "that jeep couple." They both value a healthy and active lifestyle with the purpose of living the longest lives possible for each other. Oh, and of course, throwing a party for any reason possible! (Zalat pizza at 2am anyone? Lol!)
Most importantly, they prioritize their relationships with friends and family, always striving to protect and nurture those bonds. Their deep understanding of each other, combined with profound respect, fosters an intense support and protection for one another’s character and happiness. Having learned from their past relationships, they knew what they could offer someone, but they also knew exactly what they needed to find in someone. Even with those lessons, they never imagined they could find a love as profound as theirs, the kind of love they both dreamed of. Yet, here they are, embracing the extraordinary reality of their love story.
Answered prayers in the form of each other, soulmates, making every day, even in the darkest moments, golden.
(This was written with a ton of loving and joyful tears…idk how we are going to make it through our vows on the wedding day but here’s to us trying!)
…we do, we believe in soulmates
